Thanks Bal and Tink: perhaps I need to start listing the extra duties that are going to pile on me. Its already starting, and the boss isnt even gone yet. They put an office manager in there 3 months ago. He lasted 5 weeks. I dont want to wind up on the block too. Anyway, Ive compiled a list of achievements Ive made over the year. New procedures initiated by me.
Why cant things just stay the same? sigh. Things always change, I know, but I was just getting comfy.

Being experienced in spares Ive been in charge of the spare parts division all along, but the other guy is the formal state manager of the whole thing. Anyway, hes resigned and given 30 days notice. The organization headquaters is sniffing around me and has asked me to run the show. The word "manager" hasnt been mentioned, because they know I wouldnt accept the title, and all the unpaid hours that accompany it.
Being as I just KNOW that this is going to increase my work load (even though they assure me it wont) should I insist on an immediate pay rise? before the guy leaves?
Im a little confused at the moment. I dont want to lose my job, which Im fond of.This could easily happen if they decide to centralize everything (including parts) at the headquarters location.
Do I go for the whole lot? Try to do my best? Run home crying to my mama?
Advice please.

I dont remember questioning a thing they said. I internalized it and condemned myself. I only recall hating my life. Living in fear of the wrath of God, and feeling very isolated. A rather sad specimin I was. A lot of young people leave the church thinking : "Im going to die at Armaggedon anyway, I might as well have some worldly fun before God kills me'.The only things I questioned were within myself. Why wasnt I strong enough to resist wickedness? Why couldnt I establish a relationship with God? Why was my prayer life so poor? Why couldnt I improve it? Why didnt I love Jehovah? Why could I not perform well in field service?
They did a real good job on my head.

while we were never disfellowshipped, we just faded away over 25 years ago.

i know now what was behind many of the simplification procedures that were adopted at the assemblies over the years.
the books and food were given away to avoid tax problems.
but what did you think about it when you were a jw?.
I would say that many of them are capable of lateral or creative thought on other issues. Except religion. On the subject of religion they fall back onto predictable stereotypes in thinking. The mind control they are under relates to the religious ideas sphere, not to every sphere of thought and possibility.

Well the tendancy is always toward the crushing of individual expression. Think upon the loss of such things as the snow cones, provided by some brother whos selling them, sure, but its a personal touch that sticks in memory.An eradicated practise now. I left in the late 70s when books were still hard bound, thank god. Its like approved forms of Art under Hitler I suppose. Monumental. Impersonal. Doubtless in the "new world" there would be classes of people allocated for extermination, and the bread would fall apart while you were trying to get a slice out of the wrapper.
